Frequently asked questions

Straight answers to the questions that matter most.

Is my money at risk when I test a strategy?

No. A test is a simulation on historical market data — no real orders, no real money. Real trading only happens if you decide to go live, with your own broker account, through a guided step-by-step process.

Do you ever hold my money, or see my broker passwords?

Never. Your money stays at your broker. Your broker keys are stored only on your own computer — they never pass through our servers, and we cannot see them.

Is this investment advice? Who is responsible if I lose money?

Trade4OS is not investment advice — in any form. We are a testing tool: you bring the strategy, we test it against real market data and report what happened. Nothing here is a recommendation to buy, sell or short anything.

Trading is risky, and every loss is yours alone. We accept no responsibility for trading losses of any kind — whether they come from your strategy's performance, market conditions, technical failures, data issues, broker problems, or anything else. A strategy that passed every test can still lose real money. If you are not comfortable with that, do not trade real money. The full terms are in the User Agreement you sign at registration.

What does Trade4OS actually do?

You describe a trading idea in plain words. We test it against years of real market data — and improve it, searching for the best version of your idea. Then we track it live in the market every day, and if it holds up, we turn it into a trading interface that runs it for you automatically.

Do I need to know how to code?

No. You describe your strategy in plain English. The platform does the rest.

Can I trust the results?

We work hard to make results honest: every strategy is re-tested on data it has never seen, trading costs are included, and results that look too good to be true are held back and investigated instead of shown. And the honest bottom line: past results never guarantee future results.

How much does it cost?

Your first test is free. Pricing for further tests and services is shown before you pay — no surprises.

Which brokers can I use?

We guide and support two brokers: Interactive Brokers and TradeZero. You always start on a practice (paper) account, and move to real money only through a guided process. In principle an interface can work with other compatible brokers — but outside these two you are on your own, without our support or any warranty.

What if my strategy can't become an interface?

You'll know up front, not after a wait. Every strategy gets an honest status: fully supported, or not supported yet. We never quietly test a different strategy instead of yours.

What do I need to start trading real money?

A broker account, a minimum deposit, and our go-live wizard that walks you through every step — including a real test trade of a single share before any automated trading. Your interface starts on careful settings (a small position, one trade a day) and you raise them when you're ready.

What's the minimum deposit if I want to trade short?

Short selling needs a margin account with at least $2,000 in it — a regulatory minimum. We recommend depositing more: if a trade moves against you and your balance dips below $2,000, the broker can block new trades or demand more money at the worst moment. A bigger cushion means one bad day never presses you against the floor. (At TradeZero US the account minimum is $2,500; International accounts start at $500.)

Does paper trading behave exactly like real-money trading?

No — and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling a dream. Paper trading proves your strategy's logic risk-free. But real money adds frictions paper can't fully show: your order competes for real liquidity (fills can be worse, or partial), hard-to-borrow stocks can cost real borrow fees — or be unavailable, a trading halt can freeze a position while the price gaps, and commissions add up. That's why going live starts you small — so you learn how live differs before you raise the size.

Can I test strategies on other markets — crypto, forex, futures?

Not yet. Today Trade4OS covers US stocks — that's where our data, testing and broker connections are built and verified. Other markets are on our roadmap. If your strategy needs a market we don't cover yet, the platform tells you honestly up front — we never run a "close enough" test instead.

Can I share or give my interface to someone else?

No. Your interface is licensed to you personally and is non-transferable. Sharing, copying or reselling it breaks the agreement and can get your account suspended — including alerts, updates, support and future builds. If a friend wants an interface, the honest path is simple: they test their own strategy and get their own.
